About VetPlus
VetPlus is today recognised as the Global Leader in Veterinary Nutraceuticals
Founded in 1995 by David Haythornthwaite, VetPlus is still today a family company and very much proud of it.
VetPlus is based in Lytham, Lancashire, where it manufactures all of its products in its own state of the art GMP approved manufacturing facility. GMP is the worldwide pharmaceutical standard. The business was founded on two key principals:
- Make the best possible products for the pet.
- Sell them only through veterinary practices.
Over 30 years later those principals remain as strong as ever.

VetPlus is committed to producing a complete range of premium products for the veterinary profession. It is our vision and mission to be the best in our field, not necessarily the biggest.
In House Manufacturing
VetPlus has its own purpose built, state of the art, manufacturing facility in Lytham, Lancashire, which ensures we are able to control every aspect of production.
All our raw ingredients go through a rigid testing and approval procedure before they are passed for use and during the manufacturing process, the materials go through a series of at least sixteen further checks before being released to our customers.
Having control of the manufacturing process also gives us flexibility to produce a wide range of language specific presentations and pack sizes as well as ensuring we ship on time, every time.

TIMELINE
VetPlus is founded
Still living in New York but commuting back to the UK at weekends, David founded VetPlus. Starting from a bedroom in his parents home, David took the original concept and pioneered the development and acceptance of nutraceuticals within the UK veterinary profession
Synoquin is launched
We launched our first product SYNOQUIN® at BSAVA in Birmingham. Still a veterinary favourite and Chondroprotective market leader, we have sold over 1.5 million packs worldwide.
We expand our range of pioneering chondroprotectives
We launch SYNOQUIN® FOR CATS and SYNEQUIN® for horses.
Our Pioneering Innovation continues
CYSTAID® and COATEX® EFA are launched.
Our First Manufacturing Facility is opened
It’s a big year as we move to new premises in Dock Road, Lytham and start to manufacture our own products in house including tablets, capsules and powders.
Our First Overseas Subsidiary opens
We open our first overseas subsidiary in Barcelona, Spain.
AKTIVAIT® is launched
A revolutionary product for Alzheimer’s in dogs and cats is launched.
We take on our First International Distributor
‘John. Mademochoritis & CO’ in Greece.
PROMAX® is launched
A pioneering nutritional supplement to help normal digestive function.
We open our Irish Subsidiary
Our Irish subsidiary in Dublin continues to support vets throughout the country.
We move to our New Headquarters, Animal House in Lytham, Lancashire.
VetPlus moves into its present headquarters at Boundary Road just a mile from its Dock Road facility, investing over £3 million in a purpose built manufacturing facility which is granted GMP status (Good Manufacturing Practice) two years later.
CALMEX® is launched
A calming supplement for dogs to help maintain a normal disposition.
We open our German Subsidiary
Our German subsidiary in Düsseldorf continues to support vets throughout the country.
SYNOQUIN® EFA is launched
The first supplement to combine Dexahan, an EFA with chondroitin and glucosamine.
